Here are some simple ways to keep your pup safe while still letting them enjoy all the spring fun 👇 ### ☀️ 1. Watch for Overheating Spring doesn’t always *feel* hot to us… but it can warm up quickly for your dog—especially in direct sunlight. If your dog is: - Panting heavily - Slowing down on walks - Looking for shade …it’s time for a break. 👉 Try to walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler. ### 💧 2. Don’t Forget the Water This one sounds obvious… but it’s easy to forget when you’re just “going for a quick walk.” Dogs can get dehydrated faster than we think. ✔ Bring water on longer walks ✔ Use a collapsible bowl ✔ Offer water as soon as you get home If you’re thirsty, your dog probably is too. ### 🐜 3. Check for Ticks (Every Time) Spring = tick season 😬 After being outside, take a minute to check your dog—especially: - Around the ears - Under the collar - Between the toes - Around the tail It only takes a few seconds and can prevent bigger problems later. ### 🌷 4. Be Careful with Spring Plants Everything is blooming… but not everything is safe. Some common plants that can be toxic to dogs: - Tulips - Daffodils - Lilies If your dog likes to sniff (or taste 😅), keep an eye on what they’re getting into. ### 🏡 5. Secure Your Yard & Outdoor Space Spring brings new smells, new animals, and lots of distractions. That means more chances for your dog to try to wander. ✔ Check your fence for gaps ✔ Make sure gates latch properly ✔ Supervise outdoor time if needed Because once they catch an interesting scent… they’re *gone* 😆 ### 🐶 Final Thoughts Spring should be fun—for both you *and* your dog 💛 With just a little extra awareness, you can avoid the common issues and enjoy the season stress-free.
